Tax Insights (ABN 40 225 970 467) is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Through this website we collect only what you choose to give us in the enquiry form: your name, contact details and the general nature of your enquiry. Once you engage us as clients, we collect the taxation and financial information needed to provide our services, including tax file numbers, which are handled under the additional protections that apply to TFN information.
How we use it
Enquiry details are used solely to respond to you. Client information is used to prepare and lodge returns and statements, provide the services in your engagement letter, and meet our legal and professional obligations. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for third party marketing.
Disclosure
We disclose information to the Australian Taxation Office as required to lodge your returns, and otherwise only with your consent or where the law requires it. We may use trusted third-party technology providers to operate our website and services. Some providers may process information outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
Storage and security
Records are stored electronically with access controls and retained for at least five years to meet professional obligations, after which they are securely destroyed or de-identified. The enquiry form transmits over an encrypted connection and this website stores no client tax records.
Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to or correction of your personal information, or raise a privacy concern, by contacting us through the details on the contact page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
